ABOUT EYTAN

Eytan Wallace covers politics and government for KGET 17 News, NBC's affiliate in Bakersfield, CA.

Eytan is grateful to have attended the University of Southern California Annenberg School, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast and digital journalism.Concurrent with his degree in broadcast journalism, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from USC’s Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. At USC he became involved with many activities, the highlight being his participation in Annenberg TV News (ATVN), the university’s student-run news broadcast.

While at USC, Eytan was thrilled to join NBC4/LA as its political news intern, working one-on-one with the station’s chief political reporter, Conan Nolan. Eytan is a longtime admirer of KNBC and its talent, including venerated newsman Chuck Henry. Following this internship, Eytan interned at the West Coast Bureau for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. Recently, Eytan met Holt again, this time at the Annenberg Media Center on the USC campus. During his final year at USC, Eytan worked at KNBC’s busy assignment desk, where he pitched stories and helped coordinate crews in the field.

Eytan has always been passionate about broadcast journalism, having read and watched local and national news since he was a young boy.

Growing up, Eytan attended schools in Los Angeles, including Milken Community High School, where he anchored, reported, and directed the school’s weekly news show, “The Milken Video News.” His experiences in high school propelled Eytan to study broadcast journalism while in college.

To learn more about the political process from the inside, he worked on various campaigns in his community. Although all three campaigns for which Eytan volunteered ultimately did not succeed, he has remained an optimist.

Ever mindful his grandfather narrowly escaped the Nazi invasion of his home in Czechoslovakia, Eytan continues to be a lover of our democracy, appreciating the opportunity to participate in the political process.

Eytan has been the recipient of several journalism awards; he contributed to a newscast which won the Golden Mike Award for best 30-minute television newscast. He also is a two-time award recepient from the Hearst organization and the Society of Professional Journalists.

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, Eytan has three siblings, including a twin brother. An avid runner, Eytan enjoys spending his free time jogging in Bakersfield’s local parks and the neighboring mountains of Kern County.

Eytan takes pride in sharing the stories of those who call Kern County home, and is grateful to live in the beautiful Golden Empire.
